Indian Student Discovered a new Comet.

Delhi school student Prafull Sharma from Ahlson Public school, Mayur Vihar has discovered a new comet with help of data from NASA and European Space Agency's spacecraft based observatory-SOHO which studies the Sun.

He is a class 12th student, 16 year old Prafull Sharma, had discovered the comet named SOHO 2333.  It is believed that this comet is broken part from relatively large comet called Machholz when it last came close to the Sun in 2007.  This finding was also confirmed by The British Astronomical Association and included it into a list of newly discovered comets.

Prafull Sharma's discovery made him the third Indian and 84th person across the globe to discover a SOHO comet as part of the Sungrazer program organised by Delhi based Science Popularization Association of Communicators and Educators NGO.  He earlier discovered one provisional asteroid named QH80 and three preliminary asteroids during his All India Asteroid Search Campaign in 2010, 2011 and 2012.

Most of these comets crash into the Sun and are believed to be never seen again, according to SPACE experts, such discoveries are crucial and help scientists to understand dynamic nature of comets.
